Embarking on a Tour of Southeast Asia
I leave tomorrow on a backpacking tour of Southeast Asia, where if I all goes well, I will have met tigers, ridden an elephant, held a snake and shot an AK-47. I start out in the Philippines for four days. Then I fly to Singapore, where I hop on a ferry to Indonesia. Then I'll ferry back to Singapore and spend the day there seeing the sights and the biggest water fountain in the world. Then I'll walk across the border to Malaysia to get on a night train to Kuala Lumpur. We'll be in KL for two days to see the Petronas Towers and the Safari Lagoon Waterpark on the roof of a shopping mall. Then another night train to Penang, Malaysia where the Snake Temple is located. Next a train to Chumphon, Thailand where we'll catch a bus to Myanmar. Then on to Kanchanaburi, Thailand for four days where the Tiger Temple, Elephant riding, Erawan Waterfall and Bridge on the River Kwai is. Then off to Bangkok for four days, where one night makes a hard man humble. From there, we'll go down to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where Angkor Wat, one of the seventh wonders of the world is located. Then down to Phnom Penh where the Killing Fields are. Our last stop will be Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for a week. Vietnam is where I'll get to fire some weapons. All told, our trip will take us six weeks, including some travel time in Taiwan. I am so excited to finally backpack across Southeast Asia! I can't believe it's finally here!
